Chapter 2
Johnny thought he had a rough life growing up. Even though
most people wouldn’t consider Johnny’s life rough because he was born into a
wealthy family. Johnny was the
only son of a man’s man and Johnny never felt part of that. His father was a
good man but Johnny never saw that because he rarely saw his father growing up
and when he did see him both Johnny and his father knew that they had nothing
in common. Johnny thought his life
was rough because he always wanted more from his father and nothing his father did
in Johnny’s eyes was ever enough.
His mother was a grifter that Johnny’s father had a brief encounter
with years ago and she had left Johnny at his doorstep when he was a baby and
disappeared. He knew little about
her except that she wasn’t the kind of woman he would go farther then a brief
encounter with. For that night it was fine, nothing special, but she had served
her purpose. He knew she didn’t live a legitimate life but he didn’t care about
that all he wanted was to have sex and she was willing and good looking enough
for the night. Johnny’s father was surprise that she didn’t try to get money
from him for the baby and instead dropped him off at his doorstep. Though
Johnny’s father was skeptical from the outset DNA testing proved the child was
his so he took Johnny in and didn’t’ t think about it anymore. He had plenty of
success and money and now he had a son too.
As time passed and Johnny grew up and despite the DNA
testing Johnny’s father would now and then still considered that Johnny might
not be his because he was so different from himself. But he would mostly pass this off
by thinking that Johnny must have taken after the mother he barely knew. Plus
the DNA testing proved otherwise so Johnny’s father provided him all that money
could buy in raising a son. Money was Johnny’s father and mother.
Once Johnny’s grew up his father knew that he had done the
wrong thing in Johnny’s life because he could definitely see how spoiled Johnny
really was. He knew he had made money the parent with high priced nannies by
the dozen and the like but he didn’t expect things to turn out like this. He thought eventually Johnny would
realize and appreciate his life and would grow out of his problems.
Johnny was full of unearned arrogance and lazy he was
constantly demanding more of everything be handed to him upon demand and he
wasn’t willing to do a thing to work for anything he got. Johnny believed work was for schmucks
and everyone owed him a living especially his father. When Johnny’s father
offered him a job with his company at the starting level of all employees
Johnny stamped his feet and spit on his father proclaiming his extreme
intelligence and worth that put him above such jobs and in fact any job at all.
Johnny’s father on the other hand worked long and tirelessly
to amass the fortune he had and nothing was ever handed to him. But at the point that Johnny’s father
realized what the problem with Johnny was he also decided it was too late to be
able to do anything about it. He knew that in time he would have to deal with
Johnny head on or he would be supporting rotten spoiled Johnny forever.
Being a man that earned his living and his wealthy lifestyle
he could not approve of Johnny just living off of him and he knew that whatever
happened Johnny would come to realize one day that he needed to work too.
Johnny was no looker either but he was too arrogant to be
able to see his average looks in the mirror when he regularly gazed at himself
in it. He also had no real talents of any kind but he believed he was talented
in everything he chose to do. He believed he was a king among men and his
father’s wealth commanded his position. He wasn’t meant to make it on his own
his father had already done that for him.
The only work Johnny was willing to do was work at having
money handed to him for doing nothing.
His father’s offers of employment were a joke to Johnny. He was much too
good to toil at the bottom of any company or in any type of job for that matter.
He was bitterly angered over his
father’s failure to offer him a job at the top of his company believing it was
his right to run things from the top at the very least but in reality Johnny
didn’t want to work at all at anything.
But Johnny realized that his father was getting more
persistent in getting Johnny to work and that last episode with his father left
him uneasy on getting cut off though he never believed his father would do it.
But his uneasiness caused him to hatch a new plan of action; he would travel to
Europe on his father’s money roll and live the life of luxury while he self
promoted himself as a musician. He didn’t know how to play any musical
instruments and has no experience in playing in any band but Johnny thought
with his money he could buy a band and he could be the singer so he didn’t need
to know more.
Johnny also believed it would be easy to make it big as a
musician with all his father’s money at his disposal. Johnny was convinced he
could live the easy life still while he continued to play around with his father's money. Plus his father would think he was doing
something with his life and that
should ease things for a while and he could probably get away with this for a long time to come without doing much in reality. Getting away with being Johnny was Johnny's only success in life and the only thing he wanted to do. Johnny knew that at some point his father would die and then it was all his anyway; so it was just a matter of time.
When Johnny went to his father with his idea to travel to
Europe and sing in a band his father was skeptical from the beginning. But getting rid of
Johnny for a while was a pleasant thought to his father who had tired of the
sight of Johnny and his spoiled ill-mannered arrogant ways. He also decided without telling Johnny
that if he wasn’t able to support himself within a few months he would finally
cut Johnny off completely and leave him in Europe to fend for himself for a
change.
With that Johnny left for Europe first class all the way
gleeful at his plan having worked perfectly. He had no idea that his father was
planning to cut him off completely within a few months of his arrival.
